The Menorah Choir is the choir of the Cheshire Reform Congregation in North West England. It is directed by Ruti Worrall and is made up of members of the Synagogue and friends. All are amateur singers and give of their time and talent entirely voluntarily.
The Menorah Synagogue has recently been rebuilt and to celebrate its re-opening in 2008, the Choir has recorded a CD of 13 songs. The title song Beneh Veitcha - Build your House , specially composed by Ruti Worrall, is a setting of words from the T'fila about rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. It's first public performances will take place in the Official openeing service on 29th November 2008 and at a special concert on the 30th.
The CD, available now, was recorded by Dan Worrall primarily in The Manchester Jewish Museum using its very fine acoustic. The Choir is pictured on the CD in this wonderful setting. He was able to 'capture' the acoustic qualities and use them on some subsequent recordings made at the Morris Feinmann Home in Didsbury. The home was the choir's rehearsal venue during the period of homelessness while the Synagogue was being built.
